How we know we're making a difference
By bringing early education to remote communities, more girls and boys are accessing learning opportunities that will prepare them for school. Each year, since 2013, more than 1,000 children aged 3–5 have attended early learning centres as a result of this program.
Children are showing improvements in knowledge, early literacy and numeracy skills, and their confidence has improved – all essential elements for doing well in primary school.
The Ministry of Education has also endorsed Save the Children’s approach to play-based early learning in communities, allowing us to continue working with children in remote corners of the Solomon Islands.
Who made our program possible
This program was funded by the Australian Government. Through the government’s overseas aid program, Australians provided children and young people in Solomon Islands and around the world with the chance to achieve a brighter future. Find out more about how Australian Aid is changing lives
