Position summary
It Takes a Village multicultural early learning programs support newly-arrived refugee and migrant families with young children in Perth’s south-east corridor.
Program volunteers will assist Save the Children staff in addressing the rights of these children to play and access education that supports the development of social, emotional, language, cognitive and physical capabilities. They also address the right of families to participate in the social life of the community and provide parenting support and life skills/English language and sewing classes.

Timing
Monday: 10am–12pm Gosnells
Tuesday 10am–12pm Thornlie
Wednesday 10am–12pm Gosnells
Thursday 10am–12pm Armadale

Position details
This position requires the Program Assistant to:
Essential skills and/or experience
A successful Program Assistant will:
- have the ability to work with children and adults
- have good interpersonal and communication skills
- be reliable and punctual
- be engaging and creative
- embrace diversity
Desired experience
Ideally, you will:
- understand the issues affecting children and families of CaLD backgrounds
- have previous experience working with children and adults
- have previous experience in teaching or training
Training provided
- induction
- orientation
- training, as required
Confirmed volunteers will be required to:
- give permission for Save the Children to undertakea National Police Record and Working With Children Check and provide 100 points of identification
- read and accept the Save the Children Volunteer Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policy
